Challenge. While working on Focus 21 Asset Development, the Spokane Area EDC requested Chabin's assistance to re-engineer the EDC to focus on the activities that would help stimulate a flat economy.
Solution. An in-depth analysis resulted in a strategic focus on those industries most compatible to the area. The project culminated in five strategic initiatives:
1. Collaboration
2. Readiness
3. Workforce Development
4. Education
5. Business Development
The Board of Directors adopted a new mission, a Five-Point Strategy for the EDC, and approved execution of an aggressive Implementation Plan which included detailed reorganization and training for staff.
With new leadership, the plan was launched in July 2004 using an aggressive 30- 60- and 90-day launch plan. Targeted prospecting has identified companies with active projects who are now considering Spokane County for a location. | |
