| | Rio South Texas Launches a Regional Approach to Economic Development
| |
|
| | (March 9, 2009) The Rio South Texas Economic Council recently launched a regional approach to economic development by hiring Chabin Concepts, Austin Consulting, and Applied Economics as its economic marketing team. The Rio South Texas Economic Council is a newly formed alliance of local governments and economic development organizations of the four southernmost Texas counties. The goal of the Rio South Texas Economic Council is to enhance knowledge of the area’s many assets among potential investors. The comprehensive marketing strategy will include but is not limited to: - A statistical overview of the four-county economy and its economic development trends and needs
- A list of potential business and industry marketing and outreach campaign targets
- An assessment of the current image of the Rio South Texas region among target industries and site location consultants
- Methods to improve image
- Potential marketing strategies
“Corporate site selection today is more sophisticated than in years past. While decision timelines are shorter, complexity has increased,” Don Schjeldahl, vice president and director of Austin Consulting said. “Regionalism provides effective mechanisms for identifying and addressing community shortcomings that stand in the way of successful job creation,” Schjeldahl said. | |
